Common scam tactics (bait-and-switch, trust trading, fake middlemen)
Almost every trading scam is a version of a few classics. Learn the shape of each one and they stop working on you.
Bait-and-switch
The scammer agrees to a fair trade, then quietly swaps in a cheaper or different item during the final trade window, hoping you confirm without looking.
- Beat it: re-read every item and quantity in the trade's confirm screen, every time, before you accept. If anything changed, decline.
Trust trading ("you go first")
You're asked to send your items first and "trust" the other person to send theirs back, sometimes dressed up as a multi-step or "give it back" deal.
- Beat it: never go first. Legit trades are simultaneous in the game's trade window. Trust trades are banned on Bloxtsar for exactly this reason.
Fake middlemen
Someone offers to act as a neutral "middleman" who holds both sides' items and passes them along. They keep everything.
- Beat it: Bloxtsar does not offer or support middlemen or escrow. Anyone claiming to be a "Bloxtsar middleman" is a scammer, no exceptions.
Other tactics to watch for
- Off-platform lures: "let's finish on Discord." Leaving Bloxtsar removes your report trail and protections.
- Phishing links: fake "roblox profile", "verifier", or giveaway links built to steal your account. Don't click links from traders.
- QR code scanning: an image with a QR code and a line like "scan to add me on Roblox". Scanning it opens a phishing site, not Roblox. Bloxtsar blocks QR codes in uploaded images for this reason, so never scan a code a trader sends.
- Impersonation: fake staff, fake Known Traders, or someone copying a real trader's name and avatar.
- Rushing: countdowns and "last chance" pressure exist to stop you from checking.
🛡️ The counter to nearly all of these is the same: slow down, keep it in-game and on-platform, and verify before you accept.
